Large Polished Petrified Wood Slice with Distinct...

220 Million Years Ago - Fossilized Tree Trunk Section — An authentic fragment of prehistoric history, this magnificent fossil wood section takes us back more than 220 million years, to the Triassic Period. Hailing from the renowned formations of Madagascar, this specimen represents the miraculous transformation of an ancient tree into a mineral gem, preserving the essence of life from a bygone era. The surface, mirror-polished with masterful skill, reveals with extraordinary clarity the tree’s annual growth rings. The color hues range from warm browns and beiges to cream and ivory white, creating a fascinating and unique pattern. The outer edge, left in its natural state, provides a striking contrast with the smooth surface, showing the original texture of the fossilized bark. This piece is the result of a long geological process known as permineralization. Over millions of years, mineral-rich water, predominantly silica, penetrated the trunk, replacing the organic matter cell by cell. The result is a perfect quartz replica of the original wood structure, a true time capsule that allows us to study the flora of a lost world. Of generous dimensions, this slice of trunk is a highly prized collectible, but also an object of incomparable beauty and charm for interior decoration. It is a natural work of art that combines scientific, historical, and aesthetic value, capable of enriching any mineral collection or becoming the focal point of an elegant environment.
