Las Artes Religiosas

Exceptional and Monumental Sculpture of Christ the King / Sacred Heart in large-format. Grand neo-Gothic canopy throne, wooden paste and crystal eyes - "Las Artes Religiosas" Olot, Hand Made in Spain (Olot, Catalonia - Spain) - c. 1940 Majestic and exceptional devotional work in large format depicting Christ the King / Sacred Heart of Jesus, framed by an imposing architectural canopy or throne in neo-Gothic style. Made in the prestigious workshops of "Las Artes Religiosas" of Olot, this piece stands out for its colossal visual presence and meticulous artisanal execution within Catalan imagery of quality. The sculpture is crafted using the traditional technique of polychromed wood paste and includes all the liturgical attributes of the devotion: the globe with gold world maps, the flaming Sacred Heart embossed on the chest, and the detailed royal crown on a cushion with tassels at the feet. On the back of the piece is a clearly defined raised seal (by stamp or punch), the original workshop guarantee. ·Notable details of the work: Architectural scenography: Monumental surrounding structure in neo-Gothic style characterized by pinnacles, flamish tracery, and a red-tented headboard, which raises the overall height of the piece in a striking way. Gaze and realism: Equipped with deep glass/crystal eyes that provide three-dimensional realism and exceptional vividness to the face. Polychromy and finishes: Hand-painted decoration with gilded ornamental details on the mantles and a wooden base with a marble effect. ·Technical specifications: Type of object: Monumental religious sculpture with architectural canopy Advocation: Sacred Heart of Jesus / Christ the King Manufacturer: "Las Artes Religiosas" (Olot - Catalonia, Spain) Materials: Wood paste, glass eyes, internal wooden and stucco structure Era: Mid 20th century (circa 1930 - 1950) Measurements: 77 cm height x 33 cm width x 33 cm depth. ·Condition note (transparency for collectors): The piece is in very good overall condition as shown in the images, preserving its original period patina.
