Late Night Thoughts - Leon Sarantos

Late Night Thoughts by Leon Sarantos Painting 20.0 x 16.0 :: Ths oil painting is a portrait of a woman seated at a table lost in thought. The jewel toned lamp casts a warm glow that sculpts her elegant features. The brown table worn smooth by time becomes a stage for her silent introspection. Her soft blue blouse echoes the tranquility of the scene offset by the verdant green of the wall behind. The painting conveys a peaceful meditative mood. What do you see when you gaze upon this woman bathed in the glow of the lamplight? What dreams flicker in her eyes? What secrets whisper from the shadows? Let the canvas ignite your imagination and tell you its own tale. In style this is an abstract figurative painting. As I paint I build up colors through layers each layer peeks through and adds its contribution. Small dashes of color dance around the painting for subtle stimulation and movement. Contrasting color values keep a strong separation of adjacent objects both human and inanimate. Bold black lines further delineate the edges of her form and the objects around her. The edges of the canvas are also painted black so that the painting can be hung without a frame. For sales in the U.S. this painting is shipped as is hung on stretcher bars.
