LATE ROMAN FACET-CUT CONICAL GLASS BEAKER

Late Roman Empire, late 3rd–4th century AD. A free-blown glass vessel in translucent pale olive-yellow to green glass, featuring a deep conical body tapering to a rounded base without a distinct foot. The slightly everted rim is finished with a smoothly ground edge, while the body displays wheel-cut faceted decoration and small air-bubble inclusions within the glass. The rounded base suggests that the vessel was intended to be held or supported in a stand or suspension. Possibly produced in the Roman Rhineland, including Colonia Agrippina (modern Cologne), or an Eastern Mediterranean centre in the Syro-Palestinian region or Roman Egypt. Size: 12.7 cm x 9.5 cm; Weight: 346 g. Provenance: Private European collection, pre 2000. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
