Le Grillon du Foyer & Paul Bouillard - La Cuisine Familiale - 1928

Fascinating edition of this practical work devoted to domestic cooking and the organization of family meals, published around 1928 by Éditions du Petit Écho de la Mode, a publishing house particularly linked to the dissemination of practical advice, recipes, patterns and know-how intended for the home. The book fits into a very important tradition of French culinary literature, that of manuals designed not for great professional chefs but for housewives and families wishing to prepare daily varied, nourishing, accessible meals that are well organized. Through its recipes and advice, the work seeks to make daily cooking simpler and more systematic, providing the reader with guidance to prepare both ordinary meals and more elaborate menus for Sundays, holidays, or meals hosted at home. The main interest of the book lies in its profoundly practical character, as it does not treat cooking as a mere gastronomic art but as a set of essential knowledge for the proper organization of the household.
