In a majestic chiaroscuro of clear light and shadow worthy of the Dutch Golden Age, a noble 17th-century lady, dressed in a rich black velvet gown and adorned with an imposing lace jabot, poses with solemn, imperturbable dignity. Yet the absolute seriousness of her aristocratic expression violently contrasts with the ongoing action: she delicately savors the fries of a famous red fast-food cone of contemporary culture. This unexpected intrusion of mass consumer culture at the heart of a classical portrait creates a surprising and deeply ironic anachronism. The work captivates with its flawless technical execution, where light caresses with the same nobility both the delicacy of the lace and the crispy golden glow of the fries. The Yack signs here a brilliant piece, questioning with subversive humor our relationship with the icons of art history and with globalization. Le Yack, French pop and emergent street art artist.
