LEJAN - Sculpture, "Dolly" - 31 cm - Ceramic

Large iconic Art Deco sculpture of the elephant “Dolly” in white crackle glaze ceramic. The sculpture was designed by Lejan, one of the best-known French Art Deco animaliers. Lejan has worked for several French ceramic producers, including Orchies. The piece was made in France in the 1930s. The name “Dolly” is inscribed on the bottom left of the pedestal, and the artist’s name “Lejan” is on the pedestal under the hind legs. The sculpture is in excellent vintage condition with minor imperfections typical of its age. The crackles are fine and regular, indicating skilled craftsmanship.
