Description of the work The Contemplation presents a nude female figure reclining on a dark sofa, located within a composition built from large geometric planes in black, cream, blue-gray and ochre tones. A contemporary painting approach combining drawing, painting and material to establish a contrast between the body's organic softness and the rigid, abstract planes that surround it. The figure, depicted from the back and looking outward from the scene, introduces a sense of pause, distance and introspection. More than describing a specific moment, the work poses a psychological space: the body remains physically present while attention seems to shift toward something beyond our sight. The composition plays on the opposition between body and geometry, intimacy and distance, presence and silence. The large fields of black function as a visual structure that supports and, at the same time, isolates the figure. The light, worn surfaces provide a temporal quality and materially imperfect that contrasts with the delicacy of the anatomical drawing. The result sits within contemporary figurative painting with a synthetic language, where the traditional representation of the nude is combined with graphic elements, geometric abstraction and a deliberately visible pictorial surface. About the artist - Leonardo Eymil is a visual artist based in Madrid whose practice spans painting, drawing, pastel, sculpture, photography and mixed media. His work mainly centers on the human figure and portrait, using the body as a territory to explore memory, desire, vulnerability, intimacy and conflict. His language combines a solid figurative base with contemporary resources, alternating technical precision, simplification, material and symbolic elements. - Throughout his career he has developed different series around tensions between beauty and pain, vulnerability and resilience, intimacy and threat, silence and violence.
