Les sages chinois (Han Xiangzi

Pair of Taoist Immortals statuettes in glazed Shiwan stoneware. This pretty and rare pair of statuettes dates from the late 19th century. We feature famous Chinese sages. Han Xiangzi depicted draped in a brown robe adorned with medallions, wearing a traditional yellow hat and holding a tall turquoise-green bamboo shoot. Tieguai Li depicted as a beggar pilgrim, leaning on a gnarly walking stick, recognizable by his partly bald head and the double gourd worn crossbody over an ochre robe. These two Shiwan stoneware statues date from the Guangxu era around 1890. In good condition, with only small age-related nicks (see photos).
