Lidded vase - Cloisonné, Brass - China (No reserve price)

Ritually rich Chinese cloisonné lidded vase with a matching lid, the design aesthetically inspired by the classical ritual bronze vessels from ancient China. The object is manufactured on a solid base of bronze or copper, resulting in a substantial weight of 1,875 grams. The body of the vase features a complex decorative scheme with abstract Taotie motifs against a deep red background, flanked by stylized phoenix motifs in vivid shades of green, purple, blue and white. On either side there is a copper handle with dangling rings, cast in the form of detailed Fu-lion heads. Both the interior of the vase and the lid are finished with a characteristic cobalt blue enamel layer. All edges and metal appliqués are provided with a gold-colored gilding that is in excellent condition. The bottom of the foot is equipped with an original red paper export sticker from the Chinese state factories, which directly confirms authenticity and provenance. The characters on this label read 景泰蓝 (Jingtailan), the official term for cloisonné, and 中国北京 (Zhongguo Beijing), which definitively attributes the vase to the renowned workshops in Beijing. This specific type of label dates the object to the 1970s or 1980s, making it a representative and high-quality example of Chinese export art from that period. The vase stands 30.5 centimeters tall, 25 centimeters wide and 19.5 centimeters deep. Given the impeccable condition of the enamel, the preservation of the gilding, and the rare completeness with the original lid, this vase represents considerable decorative value for collectors of Asian art and handicrafts.
