Light always finds its own way by Gary Westall Painting 11.2 x 14.0 :: This painting was inspired by a photograph taken near Bad Rothenfelde. I was particularly fascinated by the extraordinary interplay of light and shadow on the forest path. Through the trees the sun casts bright patches of light onto the path making it appear in shades of violet blue and green. While painting my main goal was to capture the special atmosphere of that moment: the tranquility of the forest and at the same time the lively movement of the light. The winding path which leads deep into the forest sparks the imagination and makes one wonder where it might lead. For me it is a quiet almost magical moment in which light and nature merge.
