LOT: Men's pocket watch (Fob) BRAND: LIP (Besançon, France) PERIOD: Art Deco era, circa 1930 - 1935 BOX NUMBERED: 450507 MOVEMENT NUMBERED: 57273 Description of the item Movement (Caliber): Rare and superb LIP-in-house movement gold-plated with fine gold (probably a caliber 39 or a derivative of the famous family of calibers “Chronometer” or high-precision Besançon standards). Mechanical manual-wind movement with anchor escapement. The balance bridge features a regulator rack for advance/retard, and the whole is engraved with the historical serial number 57273. Very good visual condition of the gilding. Dial: White enamel dial, signed “LIP” in period uppercase letters. Very legible dual time display: black stylized Arabic numerals for hours 1 to 12, and a red peripheral railway track graduated 13 to 24 for afternoon reading. Fine blue-steel pear-type hands. Small seconds counter independent (small seconds) at 6 o’clock. Case & Construction: Art Deco-style case with an exterior guilloché back featuring geometric motifs and a central blank rectangular cartouche (intended for initials). Double-haffle system (internal protective back for the movement). The inside of the covers shows a neat engine-turned finish (guilloché with “oeil-de-perdrix” pattern) and bears the official rectangular stamp of the LIP brand with the patent mention of the era and the case number 450507. Material: Chrome-plated metal / Steel (common for professional and military issues of the time). Provenance: Private collection, France. Undiscovered work, preserved by descendants.
