A beautiful and authentic Lips Dordrecht steel bank safe box, dating from circa 1950 and formerly used by ABN AMRO bank in the Netherlands. This impressive piece of Dutch banking heritage was manufactured by Lips of Dordrecht, one of the Netherlands’ renowned manufacturers of safes, vaults and security equipment. Lips products are particularly sought after for their robust construction, distinctive industrial design and connection with Dutch banking history. Lips bank safes of this type were used by multiple banks in the Netherlands; this particular example comes from ABN AMRO. The box features its original Lips maker’s plaque, substantial steel construction, reinforced edges, original hinges, carrying handle and characteristic brass-coloured hardware. The proportions and construction give it a strong, authentic industrial appearance. It is in very good original condition for its age, with its original finish, hardware and patina beautifully preserved. The combination of the Lips branding, original construction and former use in ABN AMRO bank makes this a particularly interesting collector’s piece. Dimensions: 43 × 16 × 9 cm Maker: Lips, Dordrecht, Netherlands Material: Steel Period: Circa 1950 Former use: ABN AMRO bank, Netherlands Type: Bank safe box / security box / strongbox There are some minor authentic signs of age and use, including surface wear, small scratches and areas of oxidation. These are consistent with its age and former professional use and add to its authentic vintage character. A highly attractive piece of Dutch banking and industrial heritage, especially appealing to collectors of Lips, vintage safes, banking memorabilia and industrial design. The item will be carefully packaged and securely shipped with Track & Trace.
