Made by hand in Valencia, Spain, by renowned artist Marco Antonio Nogueron, this rare and highly collectible matte porcelain sculpture (item number 01011909) was issued in 2005 and retired in 2006. The piece was executed in a strict limited edition of only 1,000 examples worldwide. The composition depicts a young maiden in a graceful, kneeling pose holding a fully bloomed, three-dimensional lotus flower, a species symbolic of peace and spiritual awakening. Inspired by the organic movement of water, the kneeling form is set against a large, circular porcelain backdrop decorated in flowing pastel wave motifs and a textured border. The reverse side is intricately decorated with a geometric pattern resembling lotus flowers. The sculpture stands on its original oak wood display base, which is dyed in soft tones to perfectly complement the porcelain's water-inspired palette. The underside of the base features a circular cut out that shows the underside of the porcelain with the blue Lladro factory stamp, hand-signed sculptor credit for M. Nogueron, decorator credit for Patel, and hand-numbered 231 of an edition of 1000.
