Longines Master Collection L2.793.4 – 40 mm – automatic – black dial – Roman numerals – date – caliber L888.2 This Longines Master Collection L2.793.4 combines the classic design of the Master Collection with an elegant black dial and large Roman hour markers. The polished stainless steel case measures 40 mm and features the collection’s characteristic long, lightly curved lugs. The watch is powered by the automatic Longines caliber L888.2, visible through the transparent case back. The black leather strap has been replaced; the Longines-signed folding clasp is retained. ────────────────── Basic information Brand: Longines Collection: Master Collection Reference: L2.793.4 Diameter: 40 mm Case material: stainless steel Dial: black, finely textured Hour markers: Roman numerals Movement: automatic Caliber: Longines L888.2 Functions: hours, minutes, central seconds and date Date position: 3 o’clock Glass: sapphire crystal Back: transparent case back Band: black leather strap with crocodile pattern, replaced Clasp: Longines-signed folding clasp Wrist circumference: approximately 20 cm ────────────────── Important details The black dial has a fine, regularly structured finish that subtly changes character depending on the light. The large silver-colored Roman numerals form a strong contrast with the black background. The classic feuille-shaped hour and minute hands complement the traditional design of the Master Collection. The date window is at 3 o’clock and features a silver-colored surround. Along the outer edge runs a separate minute scale with Arabic markings every five minutes. The combination of the black dial, polished steel case and black leather strap gives this edition a classic, formal look. ────────────────── Estimated year of manufacture Estimated production period: circa the 2010s. Reference L2.793.4 was produced for several years in various iterations. Without a dated warranty card or purchase documentation, an exact production year cannot be determined. ────────────────── Case The round case is made of stainless steel and has a diameter of 40 mm. The case is largely high-gloss polished and is characterized by the elegant, lightly curved lugs of the Master Collection. The relatively slim case construction ensures that the watch retains a refined dress-watch appearance despite its 40 mm diameter. On the polished surfaces there are fine hairlines and normal superficial signs of use. There are no notable heavy damages to the case. ────────────────── Dial The black dial is one of the most characteristic parts of this version. Edition: - Black finely textured dial - Large silver-colored Roman numerals - Silver feuille-shaped hour and minute hands - Central seconds hand - Date window at 3 o’clock - Minute scale along the outer rim - Longines logo and wings logo under 12 o’clock - “AUTOMATIC” above 6 o’clock - “SWISS MADE” at the bottom of the dial The dial presents very neatly. The Roman numerals, inscriptions and minute scale are sharp and clearly legible. ────────────────── Movement The watch is powered by the automatic Longines caliber L888.2. Caliber: Longines L888.2 Type: mechanical automatic Frequency: 25,200 A/h Power reserve: approximately 64–72 hours, depending on the specific generation of the movement Functions: hours, minutes, central seconds and date Winding: automatic, with hand-winding option The L888 caliber belongs to the modern automatic movements that Longines uses within the Master Collection and combines a relatively low frequency with a long power reserve. ────────────────── Case back The case back is transparent, allowing the automatic movement to be visible. The rotor is Longines-signed and clearly reads L888.2. The movement features decorative finishes, including perlage and striped rotor decoration. Around the sight window are the markings of the Longines Master Collection, Swiss Made and stainless steel. On the polished steel parts of the back there are some light scratches and hairlines that are consistent with normal use. ────────────────── Crown The grooved crown features the Longines Winged-Sandwatch logo. The crown finishes and fits neatly with the polished steel case. ────────────────── Leather band and clasp The current black leather band has been replaced and is therefore not offered as the original Longines band. The band has a crocodile pattern and black stitching. It presents itself neatly and suits the black dial well. The steel folding clasp is Longines-signed and features both the Longines name and the Winged-Sandwatch logo. The clasp shows some light superficial signs of use and hairlines. Suitable wrist circumference: approximately 20 cm. ────────────────── Water resistance The original model specification is approximately 3 bar / 30 meters. With a used watch, the original water resistance cannot be guaranteed without a recent pressure test. ────────────────── Condition Case: good used condition with light hairlines and superficial signs of use Dial: very good condition Glass: good condition with no noticeable damage Crown: Longines-signed Back: transparent, with light signs of wear on the steel rim Movement: automatic Longines L888.2 Band: black replaceable leather band with crocodile pattern Clasp: Longines-signed folding clasp with light signs of wear ────────────────── Overall condition A neat Longines Master Collection L2.793.4 in the classic 40 mm edition. The black structured dial with large Roman numerals gives the watch a distinctive yet restrained look. The case, dial and crystal present well, with mainly light signs of wear on the polished steel parts. The automatic Longines L888.2 caliber is visible through the transparent case back. The current black leather band has been replaced and is paired with the Longines-signed folding clasp.
