FOOD & DOMESTIC MATTERS: Brillat-Savarin, Jean Anthelme: Physiologie du gout, Furne et Cie, Paris 1864, title page with portrait illustration, full page plate illustrations and illustrated within text, 448 numbered pages plus preliminaries, bound in half blue calf with marbled boards, the spine with raised bands, gilt decoration and title, marbled endpapers with armorial bookplate for Alexander Meyrick Broadley (Broadley Pasha); together with a signed letter from Brillat-Savarin with Versailles postmark, which appears to mention a legal case with his position as a judge ("ma qualité de juge") and a visit from the First Consul (Napoleon?) which may restore the standing of Lyon
