Excessively Rare Front & Back Specimens Representative of a Series of 1934D $5 Silver Certificate A Treat for the Collector of Specimens Lot of (2) Fr. 1654s1 & 1654s2. 1934D $5 Silver Certificates. PMG Choice Uncirculated 63 EPQ to 64 EPQ. Front & Back Specimens. A rarity among rarities in any context. This lot affords collectors the chance to acquire the undisputed counterpoint to an earlier lot. Produced during the late 1940s, bidders are met here with a "Front Specimen" and "Back Specimen" that collectively represent a $5 Silver Certificate issued under the Series of 1934D which was current from 1949 to 1953. Now both pieces in this lot are quite attractive and exceedingly original in technical terms speaking to the very day these items escaped the grip of some nameless committee in Congress or from with the bureaucratic depths of the Treasury Department. Here the "Front Specimen" offers a crisp clarity unmatched by anything intended for circulation while the placeholder serial number which reads "*00000000*" beckons alongside the Treasury seal lending a superb contrast against the entire engraved design including the iconic view of the Lincoln Memorial which graces the "Back Specimen." Even the repeated admonition of "NOT NEGOTIABLE" seen on the backs of both Specimens collectively offer a fine contrast against the unprinted balance lending an impression that will undoubtedly linger the minds of bidders long after the bidding process has concluded. Estimate: $10,000 - $15,000.
