LOT OF 2: US CIVIL WAR AMES MODEL 1840 TYPE II ARTILLERY SABERS. Lot consists of: (A) Civil War M1840 light artillery saber, termed Type II, without recess in guard. Standard configuration marked "U.S. / J.H. / 1862" on obverse ricasso and with Ames scroll on reverse ricasso. Blade exhibits a gray patina with scattered blemishes. Hilt with moderate patina and blemishes. Grooved wood grip with intact leather wrap and tight wire. Complete with plated scabbard with two carry rings that exhibits patina, scattered blemishes, and lifting. Drag exhibits rack markings. CONDITION: Good. (B) Civil War M1840 light artillery saber, termed Type II, without recess in guard. Standard configuration marked "U.S. / A.H.C. / 1863" on obverse ricasso and with Ames scroll on reverse ricasso. Blade is bright with scattered blemishes. Hilt with moderate patina and blemishes. Guard is marked "21" and knucklebow is marked "122". Grooved wood grip with intact leather wrap and tight wire. Complete with iron scabbard with two carry rings that exhibits patina and scattered blemishes. Drag is marked "A.H.C.". CONDITION: Good.
