Louis Haché - Études de femmes

These five pencil drawings by Louis Haché (1922-2013) present different studies of female figures in varied poses: seated, standing, three-quarters, or reclining. These attitudes allow the artist to explore both facial expression and the proportions and volumes of the body. His experience in illustration and comic art is evident in the precision of the line and the mastery of the silhouette. Haché uses fine hatching, shading effects, and contours that are more or less defined to model the bodies and give relief to the figures. Some parts, more sketch-like, preserve the spontaneity of a study drawing. The almost entirely blank backgrounds draw attention to the models and reinforce their presence. The collection thus testifies to Haché's interest in portrait, the nude, and the observation of the model, at the boundary between artistic study and illustration. These sheets reveal a realistic and elegant style, while also showing a search for movement, softness, and expression.
