In this work, Louis Jacolliot (1837-1890) traces the 'march of the Indo-Asian tradition' and seeks in the sacred texts of India the origin of the great religions; he studies there in particular the flood traditions of India and of the peoples of Antiquity. As with his other works on India, the book was widely read in Theosophical and occultist circles. Half-bound in black morocco, spine with raised bands, boards marbled paper, endpapers marbled.
