Two small figurative landscapes by the Belgian artist Louis Van Lint (1909–1986). The two works depict rural scenes, executed with a loose and lively brushwork. One painting shows a farm by the water in a green landscape; the other a winter landscape with houses, figures, and a windmill. Due to their small size and refined execution, the works have an intimate character. From 1924, Van Lint pursued his studies at the Academy of Saint-Josse-ten-Noode, where he was taught by, among others, Henri Ottevaere and Jacques Maes. In his early oeuvre he painted interiors, cityscapes and rural landscapes. Later he would become an important representative of Belgian modern painting and co-founder of La Jeune Peinture Belge. The paintings are offered together and are housed in matching decorative gilded frames. A charming and distinctive ensemble from Louis Van Lint's figurative oeuvre.
