Louÿs (Pierre) Une Volupté Nouvelle, 39pp., manuscript, [Paris], [Librairie

Louÿs (Pierre) Une Volupté Nouvelle, manuscript, 39pp., tipped onto blank leaves, light surface marks, later burgundy morocco dated '1927' to rear turn-in, spine lettered in gilt, 4to, [Paris], [Librairie Borel], [1899]. *** This manuscript is a fine example of Louÿs use of classical themes in his erotic works. Here, he playfully imagines the reawakening of an ancient nymph hundreds of years later to discover what new pleasure and vices are no longer banned. The work was originally published in 1899 and then later, in 1929, an illustrated edition was issued.
