Luciano Spazzali (Trieste 1911 - Piacenza 1997) “Still life with a fruit basket in a fantastical landscape” Measurements: 68 x 48.5 cm in frame Painting: 51 x 31 cm Period: 1980s/1990s Mixed media on paper applied to a wooden panel Signature: Signed «Spazzali» at bottom right Frame: Work presented within a molded frame with a silver finish and a wide light mat Description of the work Suggestive pictorial composition by Luciano Spazzali, expression of a personal figurative language, in which the elements of the still life harmoniously insert themselves into a landscape of fantastical and poetic matrix. In the foreground, on the right, a woven basket holds fruits in yellow, green and orange tones, accompanied by clusters of grapes, pears, and other fruits arranged with particular attention to chromatic balance. In the background opens an imaginary landscape, characterized by trees with finely elaborated canopies, meadows dotted with small touches of color, and a sky with delicate shades of blue, pink and yellow. The composition is coherent with the studies linked to Piacenza Fantastical Realism, a movement to which Spazzali contributed together with artists such as Gustavo Foppiani and Armodio.
