Lucien Delfosse (1923-2022) - Lyrische Abstractie

Belgian lyric-abstract work by Lucien Delfosse, signed and dated 1979. The composition is built up of broad horizontal color zones in white, gray, blue-green and dark earth tones. Delfosse here paints not descriptively but suggestively: color, movement and material define the image. The composition is carried by spontaneous brushwork, color fields and a free rhythm, characteristic of postwar abstract painting. A characteristic example of Belgian lyrical abstraction from the second half of the 20th century.
