Luigi Broggini (1908-1983) - Trofeo Alfa romeo 1971

Luigi Broggini (1908-1983) - Trofeo Alfa romeo 1971

Alfa Romeo for its drivers: the car manufacturer entrusted prominent artists of the era with the creation of trophy sculptures. Luigi Broggini (Cittiglio 1908–Milan 1983) Sculptor, painter, and ceramicist from Milan. He attended the Brera Academy and was a pupil of Wildt, but he felt the many influences of Impressionism and Expressionism, which clearly emerge in his works. His figurative pieces are deeply shaped by ancient and distant influences, drawing inspiration from Greek and classical traditions, as well as from more primitive and Nuragic forms, as in the bronze piece for Alfa where a charioteer, bold and self-assured, drives his two-wheeled chariot or war cart with strength and pride.
