Luminous Handcrafted Mother of Pearl Mosaic Tray...

Hundreds of mother-of-pearl pieces hand-assembled for a unique object. — This lot presents a work of exceptional elegance and artisanal skill: a large rectangular tray, entirely covered with a mosaic of natural mother-of-pearl. Coming from the Philippines, a region famous for the quality of its shells and for the craftsmanship of its artisans, this piece is a superb example of how an organic material can be transformed into a refined design object. Its broad surface makes it ideal both as a striking decorative element and as a luxurious serving tray or coaster. The visual impact is dominated by the glittering surface, composed of nearly six hundred rectangular mother-of-pearl tesserae, cut and hand-assembled with meticulous precision to form a pattern reminiscent of an elegant masonry. Each individual tile captures and refracts light in a unique way, creating a hypnotic iridescence. The color palette ranges from pearly white to cream, with shifting glints of pink, green, and blue dancing across the surface as the viewing angle changes, imparting dynamic vitality and surprising depth to the object. Mother-of-pearl, or nacre, is a composite biomineral produced by some mollusks as the inner layer of the shell. It consists of microscopic hexagonal aragonite crystals arranged in parallel lamellae. This layered structure is the cause of its famous optical phenomenon, iridescence, since light is broken and reflected differently by the stacked layers. Used for centuries in decorative arts, from inlaying precious furniture to the creation of jewelry, mother-of-pearl is synonymous with luxury and natural beauty. The making of this panel testifies to a high level of artisanal skill. The selection, cutting, and setting of each tessera require patience and an expert eye to create a surface that is homogeneous yet richly characterized. The back of the tray has been finished with a black eco-leather coating, a functional detail that not only adds a touch of restrained elegance but also ensures stability, a secure grip, and protects the surfaces it rests on from scratches. This object transcends its practical function to become a true conversation piece. It can be used as a sophisticated tray for serving refined dishes such as sushi or desserts, elevating the convivial experience. Alternatively, it can be displayed vertically on an easel or leaned against a library wall, transforming into a decorative panel that catches the eye. Its aesthetics, balancing the purity of nature with a geometric and modern design, make it a perfect accessory for contemporary interiors, professional studios, or as a precious element in a modern Wunderkammer.”} }`} }Oops Wait JSON seems valid.
