Luxurious Déco Platinum Bracelet with 14.92 ct Diamonds, c. 1930s

Luxurious Déco Platinum Bracelet with 14.92 ct Diamonds, c. 1930s

This bracelet takes us back to the years between the great wars - to a time that was characterized by great tensions and deep upheavals, and not least because of this, indulged in luxury and sparkling champagne. "Après nous le déluge", after us the deluge: this phrase, which the Marquise de Pompadour is said to have uttered in the glittering age of Rococo when her glittering party was interrupted by the news of a political defeat, can also be applied to the turbulent period in which Art Déco, resplendent in platinum and diamonds, began its triumphal march. This masterpiece of craftsmanship and glamorous design dates back to this era, the first heyday of the great Hollywood divas. The bracelet is almost lavishly studded with diamonds, 313 in all, which reflect the light in a wide variety of cuts. And yet it is no clumsy display of luxury: the diamonds are not only artfully set, but also artistically arranged. The narrow platinum band appears to be animated by an inner dynamic, which is created by the rhythmic arrangement of the geometrically cut diamonds and fine settings. The piece is also a triumph of craftsmanship. Although it is made from solid platinum, it wraps softly around the wrist thanks to countless hidden links that make it supple. Two chinoiserie-inspired ornaments connect the solid showpieces and lend the bracelet a greater visual lightness. The highlight: the bracelet has two showpieces, each of which is formed by a large marquise diamond in a frame of perfectly cut emeralds. The clasp is concealed behind one of these showpieces - so the bracelet looks decorative even when it is turning on the wrist. The bracelet was once worn with one of those slim, sleeveless silk dresses in a bias cut that we associate with the glamorous evening wear of the 1930s. We can almost hear the clinking of glasses, the babble of voices, the jazz band in the blue evening twilight... On what occasion, with what dress will you wear the bracelet almost a century later?
