Rings took on unusual and daring shapes in the 1980s, which clearly distinguished them from the designs of previous decades. Shiny yellow gold and precious gemstones in colourful combinations were particularly popular. The designs, which were often very large, were particularly well suited to this life-hungry era, and their rounded shapes without annoying pronges that could get caught in clothing also made them especially comfortable to wear. Especially the designs from Bulgari caused a sensation and inspired numerous goldsmiths to create similar designs. This ring, made around 1985, belongs to this environment and was made in a Parisian goldsmith's shop, according to its hallmarks. As a central starting point we see a beautiful, medium blue sapphire in a simple gold setting. The gemstone is oval faceted and set across the finger. The stone weighs approximately 6.20 carats and is lifted high above the finger by an intricate base. Forty-eight sunshine yellow and six blue sapphires accompany it here, giving the ring a distinctly luxurious appearance. An independent appraisal by the German Association for Gemstone Evaluation in Idar-Oberstein confirms the quality of the materials used. Handcrafted to perfection, the ring charms just as it did the day it was made - and can be worn immediately! We discovered it in Minden.
