M. Palumbo (XX) - Icona sacra - Madre della Tenerezza - 30 x 48 cm

Majestic Traditional Icon of the Most Holy Mary Eleusa (Tenderness) Original hand-painted sacred artwork – Wooden panel (30x40 cm, 1 cm thick) The Icon and Theological Significance This magnificent panel depicts the Mother of God Eleusa (Tenderness), one of the deepest and most moving iconographies in Byzantine tradition. The Colors of the Mantle: The deep, enveloping tones of the Marian mantle symbolize heavenly regularity and sanctified humanity, in harmonious contrast with the dark green background that evokes the Garden of Eden and contemplative quiet. The Fruits of the Earth: The Child Jesus holds in his hands the fruits of the earth, a powerful symbol of divine gifts, Providence, and the promise of eternal life through Passion and Redemption. Light and Gilding: The halos and finely worked details are enriched with gold finishes, catching and reflecting natural light to create an atmosphere of deep sacredness and reverence. Technical Specifications and Provenance Dimensions: 30 x 40 cm, thickness 1 cm. Support: Smooth, square wooden panel, handcrafted with a live finish and no additional frame. Artistic Technique: Entirely handmade according to the canons of the ancient Byzantine school, using egg tempera and natural pigments, finished with premium protective coatings. Author: The work bears the signature of master iconographer Marco Palumbo, born in Monte Sant'Angelo. He trained and earned the iconographer certification at the historic Abbey of Pulsano, where the monks transmitted to him the secrets, prayers, and rigorous constructive techniques of Eastern sacred art. Blessing in the Celestial Cave An invaluable spiritual value enriches this work: the icon was solemnly blessed in the Celestial Cave of the Sanctuary of Saint Michael the Archangel in Monte Sant'Angelo — the famous earthly sanctuary consecrated not by human hands, but directly by Saint Michael the Archangel himself, a place unique in the world steeped in grace and millennial mystery. A masterpiece of faith and artisanal mastery, ideal as a precious centerpiece to adorn a luxury bedroom or as a collection of sacred art of the highest level.
