M9743 - Doll Mataro - Japan

Type: This is a Kimekomi doll (Kimekomi Ningyō), a prestigious Japanese craft technique in which the edges of the kimono fabric are inserted and fixed into microscopic grooves carved into the body of the figure. Subject: It represents a traditional figure linked to festivals or mythology (often associated with children's festivals such as Tango no Sekku or Hinamatsuri). On the side of the box is visible the silver stamp of the producers' association and the Japanese inscription "取扱注意" (Handle with care). Conditions and accessories: The presence of the original cardboard box (visible in the photo) increases its appeal to collectors compared to a loose piece.
