Maison Cardeilhac - CARDEILHAC PARIS - Ewer - .950 silver

The maker is the renowned French luxury silverware atelier Maison Cardeilhac from Paris (taken over by Christofle in 1951). The engravings and stamps mean in detail: CARDEILHAC PARIS: The official inscription of the manufactory. STERLING FRANCE: Additional designation for the international market (export mark). Diamond-shaped master mark (Losange): The typical French maker's mark of Cardeilhac (with workshop symbols such as crescent and stars). Minerva head (Tête de Minerve): The French guarantee mark for solid silver of the first fineness (1er titre). 950 / 950er silver: French standard for sterling silver with a fineness of 95% pure silver (therefore even higher quality than British/classic 925 sterling). The teapot weighs 415 g. It is made entirely of 950‑fine sterling silver, except for the wooden handle.
