Mallorcan Light - Gary Westall

Mallorcan Light by Gary Westall Painting 11.0 x 14.0 :: I was inspired by a photo I took in Mallorca in 2023. It shows a small cove with a rocky coastline clear water and intense Mediterranean light. I was particularly drawn to the strong color contrasts between the warm reddish-brown of the rocks the blue of the sky and the turquoise of the sea. The landscape was painted with visible expressive brushstrokes deliberately emphasizing the texture and color of the rocks. The painting is not an exact photographic reproduction of the location but rather my artistic recollection of Mallorca’s landscape and light. Signed lower left.
