Manifattura italiana - da Filippo Lippi - Figure - Maria...

Polychrome porcelain Madonna with an oval velvet frame Elegant devotional image depicting the Madonna in prayer, made in porcelain with polychrome decoration and raised details. The Virgin is shown bust-length, head slightly inclined, hands joined, and a composed, delicate expression. The blue mantle, embellished with gilded details, is paired with the pink robe, while the golden aureole frames the head and illuminates the composition. The iconography owes a debt to Filippo Lippi's work. The figure is set in an oval frame covered in green velvet. The contrast between the glossy porcelain surface and the soft texture of the velvet gives the whole ensemble a distinctive ornamental charm. Certainly produced in Italy in the 1930s or 1940s, in keeping with the taste of Turin Art Deco ceramics. Dimensions: Madonna 13x17.5 cm Velvet frame 24x30.5 cm Excellent condition.
