Manuel Viola (José Viola Gamón) (1916 - 1987) Painter and poet. One of the leading figures of Spanish abstract expressionism. His abstract expressionist work can be regarded as a personal interpretation of the so-called "Action Painting" with a violent and passionate lyricism. Collective: Cofounder and member of the group El Paso (since 1958). There is currently some of his work in the Museo Español de Arte Contemporáneo in Madrid, in the Museo de Bellas Artes in Bilbao, in the Guggenheim in New York, in the Museum of Liege, in the Museo de Arte Moderno in Buenos Aires.....
