We present the Marlen Gens Pompeia Collection Pompeii, a Greek colony of the 7th century B.C., later ruled by the Etruscans and finally by the Romans, owes its name to the Gens Pompeia. Destroyed and completely buried under many meters of ash and pumice during the catastrophic eruption of Vesuvius on August 24, 79 A.D., which lasted two full days, it remained hidden for almost 1700 years before its accidental rediscovery in 1748. From that moment, the excavations have brought to light a detailed snapshot of life in a city at the time of the Roman Empire. Today, Pompeii is one of Italy’s most popular tourist attractions and a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Pompeian Red color is well represented in the resin bands veined and mother-of-pearl that characterize the Gens Pompeia collection. The central band of the shaft, in bronze, reproduces in bas-relief the famous fresco “The Baccanti” found in the House of the Mysteries of ancient Pompeii. Brass separators clip and rings. At the top of the cap a cabochon ruby is set.
