Huge Vintage Japanese Hand-Carved Wooden Okame Mask – 62 cm Large Scale Otafuku Wall Sculpture for Japandi Interior 【Description】 An exceptionally large and striking vintage hand-carved Japanese theatrical mask (Omen / Wall Sculpture), depicting Okame (also known as Otafuku), the traditional Japanese goddess of mirth, good fortune, and happiness. Iconography & Artisanal Craftsmanship: Classic Auspicious Iconography: Masterfully carved with Okame’s signature joyful features—plump cheeks, cheerful smiling eyes, painted dimples, high forehead spots (Tenjo-mayu), and vibrant red lips. Monumental Oversized Scale: Standing at a commanding height of 62 cm, this monumental carving significantly exceeds standard wearing mask dimensions, making it a true architectural display sculpture. Hand-Painted Traditional Finish: Finished with a rich hand-painted gesso coating, accented with hair carving details along the sides and back. Contemporary Interior Display: In Japanese folklore, Okame is revered as a powerful bringer of joy, prosperity, and good luck to homes and businesses. Its grand sculptural presence and warm traditional character make it a captivating focal art piece for modern Japandi living spaces, hotel foyers, or private Asian art galleries. 【Materials & Construction】 Core Material: Solid hand-carved timber. Surface Finish: Traditional polychrome hand-painted finish over gesso primer. Mounting: Hollowed reverse construction suitable for wall display. 【Condition】 Exhibits fine vintage condition overall with an authentic aged patina.
