Ca. AD 1 - 300. A matched pair of gold earrings, each with a rectangular glass inset held in a square frame with a radiating border. Two wire pendants suspended from looped attachments terminate in coils. A curved hook extends from the reverse of each setting. For similar see: The British Museum, Museum number 1879,0115.13. Size: 23-23mm x 11-11mm; Weight: 2.6g Provenance: Private London collection; previously part of a distinguished New York private collection, assembled between 1975 and 1995. The collection was authenticated in the early 1990s by Dr. Jack Ogden and Barbara Deppert Lippitz, leading specialists in ancient jewellery. A significant number of objects from this collection were also published in a professional catalogue.
