The ring features a sturdy, closed-worked shank that widens toward the shoulders and flows seamlessly into the oval seal plate. The heavy construction and the clear signs of age and wear give the piece a pronounced historical character. On the seal plate there is an incised geometric engraving. The main motif consists of two opposite, spiral- or volute-shaped elements connected by a curved line. Below is another small arched mark. The exact meaning of the motif cannot be determined with certainty. Stylistically, the ring can be cautiously placed in the Middle Ages. A connection to the Byzantine or eastern Mediterranean region is plausible due to the form and ornament tradition, but cannot be definitively proven without a secure find context. Dating to roughly the 9th–14th century AD seems a prudent arrangement. The surface shows a pronounced, natural-looking brown-green to sometimes turquoise-green patina.
