Ca. AD 700 - 900. A gold ring with a slender rounded hoop broadening towards the shoulders and supporting an oval bezel mount set with a sapphire cabochon. The stone is secured by four claws, with applied pellets at the cardinal points of the mount. Size: D:17.12mm / US: 6 3/4 / UK: N; Weight: 3g Provenance: Property of a West London gentleman; previously in a collection formed on the UK/International art market in the 1990s.
