Very rare Merovingian forged iron axe in the shape of a halberd. Large symmetrical forged iron axe, curved axe iron. Symmetrical blade, slightly curved, connected to a solid neck at the end of which sits the rectangular tang hole with lateral reinforcements. Merovingian period, 5th / 8th century. Contains an old label mentioning: "Axe found in the Loire in 1886 about 50 m from the new bridge". A similar axe was discovered in the Merovingian necropolis of Erstein. Length 22.6 cm.
