Medieval jug in Raeren stoneware. Stoneware vase with salt-glazed brown glaze. The body is ribbed, bulbous in form, with a straight neck adorned with a ridge, and a ribbon handle. This vase is part of the very early European ceramics to be glazed. The glaze is unevenly distributed. The jug has an old label under the base bearing the number 21. Germany, Raeren town, 14th century Height 15.2 cm - Width 9.4 cm Very good condition – small chips Provenance: Germany, Dr D.E.R. Studio. Previously: a significant private Dutch collection of medieval and Renaissance ceramics formed at the end of the 19th century. The seller can prove that the lot was legally obtained; provenance statement seen by Catawiki. Important information: The seller guarantees that they are authorized to sell/export this lot. The seller will ensure that the necessary permits, such as an export license, are arranged.
