Crouched on a red surfboard, one arm extended forward to keep balance, he cuts through the tube, mouth wide open and blue eyes wide with joy. Above him, the crest curls into foam-clawing ridges and lets fall a rain of droplets on a gray-blue sky traversed with cream-colored clouds. Further down, two long wooden boats dive into the hollows, where rowers wearing conical hats lean over their oars, without a glance for the surfer. In the distance, between two blades, a small Mount Fuji rises with a snowy summit.
