Red top edge. 1 white leaf, xvi, xliv (MISSING from vii to xviii), 520, 2 white leaves Volume 28 of this series that collects the full texts of the academic contributions, experimental research, and scientific proceedings presented to The Physiological Society between 1901 and 1902. It represents a fundamental historical testimony to the transition of physiology toward a strictly experimental medical discipline at the beginning of the twentieth century. Among the topics covered: Cardiovascular and Respiratory Physiology, Neurophysiology and the Nervous System, Digestive Processes and Metabolism. The pages from vii to xviii in the introduction are MISSING. Double ex libris applied to the flyleaf. Numerous graphs, tables, and black-and-white illustrations in the text. Slight foxing at the extremes of the volume. Nevertheless an almost untouched copy with the sheets still closed. Usable and very clean.
