Memories of the Highlands - Gary Westall

Memories of the Highlands by Gary Westall Painting 15.8 x 11.8 :: In this work I translate my memories of the Scottish Highlands into paint. The landscape is not intended to be an exact reproduction but rather an expression of the mood that this place left in me. The stream winding through the valley leads the eye into the distance and at the same time into the depths of memory. Using warm and cool colours I attempt to capture the interplay of light vastness and quiet melancholy which for me forms the essence of this landscape. Signed lower right.
