Splendid and exceptional collectible piece: the "ONEGA" cup/vase model, designed by architect and designer Matteo Thun in 1982 for the historic avant-garde collective MEMPHIS MILANO. The object perfectly embodies the postmodern aesthetics of the 1980s guided by Ettore Sottsass, characterized by bold geometries, irony, and the deconstruction of classical forms. The series of white porcelain objects that Matteo Thun creates for Memphis, on the one hand, fits within the tradition of his family's ceramic craftsmanship, on the other hand it renews it with a sort of “humorous anti-functionalism.” The Onega cup (1982) “slots” onto a spherical form that itself rests on shaped triangular elements, against every rule of ergonomics. Cup in white porcelain, turned and hand-shaped with oven-sublimated decals. Made in fine white porcelain, it is distinguished by the iconic stabilizing geometric fins at the base and the perforated handle with a raised texture on the back. Originally born in the series of geometric ceramics of the collective, with the dual vestige of an art glass or small mono-flower vase. There is a second version of this Cup with the base fins decorated with oven-sublimated decals. Dimensions: Height 11.8 cm, Length 10 cm, Width 6.8 cm
