MGBM Genève - No reserve price - Unisex - 1920

MGBM Genève – Vintage trench-watch/ collar-watch style wristwatch – Laminated gold plated – Circa 1910-1920 Beautiful vintage Swiss-made wristwatch, dating approximately 1910-1920. Its shape, fixed wire lugs, and traditional crown-pushing time-setting system are characteristic of watches worn on the wrist during that period. The case bears the marking MGBM Genève (Manufacture Genevoise de Boîtes de Montres) as well as the number 1385. It is made of metal with laminated gold plating, with a marking indicating a 5-year original guarantee. Characteristics * Era: Circa 1910-1920 * Origin: Switzerland, Geneva * Case maker: MGBM – Manufacture Genevoise de Boîtes de Montres * Case number: 1385 * Case: Metal with laminated gold plating, with 5-year original guarantee * Diameter: approx. 26 mm excluding crown * Dial: Gilded, black painted Arabic numerals and railway minute track * Hands: Blue steel, spade-style * Movement: Swiss manual-winding mechanical, split-pontoon architecture * Time-setting: Pusher system, located around 4 o’clock * Strap: Black leather with lizard style * Mounting: Fixed wire lugs Condition The watch presents an original condition consistent with its age. The dial shows a uniform, natural patina, with some signs of time. The blue-steel hands are present and seem original. The case shows micro-scratches and signs of use, as well as a natural dulling of the gilding on certain areas, notably on the outer back. Traces of verdigris/oxidation are visible around the inner part of the case band and at the fixed lugs. The back case closes properly. The inner marking “MGBM Genève” is clearly visible. The movement appears visually complete. The bridges still display their gilded finish, and the whole is presented in its current state. The movement has not been tested for accuracy or power reserve. The leather strap shows signs of wear and stiffness related to its age. The photographs are an integral part of the description and allow assessment of the aesthetic condition and any signs of use.
