signed and dated 'M. Taylor '72' l.r., mixed media on paper, 45 x 35cm; framed 72.5 x 52.5cm, The artist has confirmed by email that this is a sepia drawing with colouring by him, adding that for many years it hung in his parents’ bedroom. He paints few pictures, usually taking at least three months on a painting. He has several portraits in the National Portrait Gallery, but is perhaps best known for his commission by the filmmaker Wes Anderson of 'Boy with Apple', which featured in Anderson’s 2014 film 'The Grand Budapest Hotel' and is now a highlight of the current Wes Anderson exhibition at the Design Museum.
