Mid-20th Century Bronze Bull Sculpture after Antoine-Louis Barye, c.1960

The sculpture depicts a young bull standing alert, with a well-modelled head, defined musculature and carefully rendered anatomical detail. The bronze has developed a dark aged patina, which highlights the surface modelling and gives the piece good depth and character. It stands on a rectangular black marble base, with green baize to the underside. The base is engraved after Antoine-Louis Barye. A strong decorative desk, library or interior sculpture with good presence and detail.
