All auctions / Furniture, Design & Mirrors / Mid-century modern Fountain - VEB Elektro-Apparate-Werke...
A genuine technical rarity is this Fontäne I indoor fountain from the VEB Elektro-Apparate-Werke Berlin-Treptow, in its original packaging with instructions. Manufactured in 1968 in the former GDR. Back then extremely expensive; 113 East German marks were about a quarter of a month's wages. The fountain works, however the bowl has cracks on the outside. On the inside it is probably additionally sealed, which is why the fountain is absolutely watertight. The cracks are hardly visible because of the pattern in the glass—see detail photos.
