Middlesex Regiment Officer’s Sword. A very good 1897 pattern example by ‘Wilkinson’, with a patent solid hilt, named in full upon the scabbard within a panel upon a seeded ground, ‘G. M. J. Sichel’, with gothic entwined initials etched upon the blade, ‘G. S’, a nickel plated steel sword and scabbard with a partly fullered blade profusely etched with scrolling foliage, an Edwardian coat of arms, the Royal crest, crown and regimental title, ‘Middlesex Regiment. Duke of Cambridges Own’, the hilt of regulation pattern with an Edwardian crown and cypher, a wire bound black fish skin grip, its original bullion wire sword knot, marked ‘Patent Solid Hilt, Henry Wilkinson, Pall Mall, London, Number 42421’, complete with its original pig skin carry case, impressed ‘G. M. J. Sichel Middlesex Regnt.’, very good condition £300-£400.
